Flare presents the Renewal Edition of their Ayanami Rei figure from Evangelion Shin Gekijouban, the Rebuild of Evangelion film series. This 1/7 scale figure stands approximately 250mm tall and is crafted from ABS and PVC. The figure is a collaboration between illustrator Shunya Yamashita and sculptor Mitsumasa Yoshizawa, who originally worked together on the illustration and garage kit back in 2007. Rei Ayanami is the First Child and pilot of Evangelion Unit-00, one of the most enigmatic characters in the Evangelion franchise. Known for her quiet, emotionally reserved nature and blue hair, Rei's existence is tied to deep mysteries within the series' lore. In the Rebuild of Evangelion films, her character undergoes subtle but meaningful developments as the narrative diverges from the original TV series. The bandages covering her right eye reference specific moments in the anime where Rei sustains injuries during battles. This figure depicts Rei in a revealing dress version of her plugsuit, striking a dynamic pose with both arms raised and hands crossed above her head. After 17 years since the original release, this renewal edition brings the beloved design back to collectors. The figure is scheduled for release in September 2025.
