The character first appeared in the manga chapter "The Great Yōkai War" in 1966 and made his anime debut in Series 1 Episode 10 in 1968. Despite lacking a visible mouth, Ittan Momen can eat and drink, and he has a noted fondness for pretty women and beautiful kimonos. His weaknesses include scissors, fire, and water, and he has a strong dislike for being worn as a loincloth or put through washers and dryers.
