About this figure

Youkai Shop presents a diorama figure set featuring Kitaro and Medama-Oyaji from Gegege no Kitaro, depicting the scene at Kitaro's house. This collectible brings to life the iconic father-son duo from one of Japan's most beloved yokai manga and anime franchises. Gegege no Kitaro is a long-running series created by Shigeru Mizuki that follows Kitaro, the last surviving member of the Ghost Tribe, as he protects humans from mischievous and dangerous yokai. Medama-Oyaji is Kitaro's father, who once existed as a fully-formed adult ghost before perishing from disease. He was reborn from his own decayed body as an anthropomorphic eyeball, now living inside Kitaro's hair. Despite his tiny size, Medama-Oyaji possesses a wealth of knowledge about all things yokai and serves as Kitaro's primary advisor. He is known for his distinctive catchphrases including "Oi! Kitaro!" and his fondness for bathing in teacups. The character first appeared in the 1960 manga The Birth of Kitaro and has been a fixture across six anime series, voiced primarily by Isamu Tanonaka until his passing in 2010. This diorama from Youkai Shop captures Kitaro and Medama-Oyaji at Kitaro's home, a recurring setting throughout the franchise's many iterations.
