Banpresto presents the Shashou, or Conductor, from the classic space opera series Ginga Tetsudou 999, also known as Galaxy Express 999. This figure stands approximately 60mm tall and is crafted from ABS and PVC materials. Galaxy Express 999, created by legendary manga artist Leiji Matsumoto, is set in a spacefaring future where humans can transfer their minds into mechanical bodies, achieving practical immortality. The story follows Tetsuro Hoshino, an impoverished boy who boards the Galaxy Express 999, a steam locomotive that travels through the stars, on a journey to the planet Andromeda where machine bodies are said to be given away for free. The Conductor is a mysterious figure who guides passengers aboard the legendary space train, serving as a recurring presence throughout Tetsuro's voyage across the cosmos. Matsumoto was inspired by Kenji Miyazawa's novel "Night on the Galactic Railroad" when creating the series. This Banpresto figure captures the Conductor's distinctive design, making it a fitting tribute to one of anime's most enduring classics.
