About this figure
Mondo's Heat Ray variant of Godzilla represents a designer vinyl figure created by Tanaka Studios. Standing at 254mm tall, this figure reimagines the original 1954 Godzilla with a distinctive Heat Ray colorway. Godzilla, originally known as Gojira, first appeared in the 1954 Toho film and has since become one of cinema's most iconic monsters. The original film depicted Godzilla as a prehistoric creature awakened and empowered by nuclear radiation, serving as a metaphor for nuclear destruction in post-war Japan. The Heat Ray variant references Godzilla's signature atomic breath attack, a devastating energy weapon that has been a staple of the character since the original film. Mondo, known for their premium designer collectibles, collaborated with Tanaka Studios to produce this stylized interpretation. The figure was available through the Godzilla Official Store and features the sofubi (soft vinyl) construction that Mondo's designer figure line is known for. The Heat Ray variant offers a unique color scheme distinct from other versions in the lineup.
