Tanjirou is the kindhearted protagonist whose family is slaughtered by a demon, leaving his sister Nezuko transformed into a demon herself. Driven by the desire to find a cure for Nezuko and avenge his family, Tanjirou joins the Demon Slayer Corps and trains in the Water Breathing technique. His exceptional sense of smell and unwavering compassion set him apart as he faces increasingly powerful demons, including the Twelve Kizuki who serve under the demon king Muzan Kibutsuji. His signature Water Breathing forms and the Hinokami Kagura dance are among the most iconic elements of the series.
