Her father, Masatada Takamura, was renowned for designing the Type-82 Zuikaku tactical surface fighter. The 1998 BETA invasion of Japan left Yui as the sole survivor of her unit during the Defense of Kyoto, an experience that hardened her resolve to advance TSF development. She later led the White Fang test squadron and was assigned to the XFJ program in Alaska, where her rigid military demeanor often clashed with interpersonal relationships.
