Kuzan, formerly known by his Marine admiral alias Aokiji, is one of the most complex characters in One Piece. As a Marine admiral, he wielded the Hie Hie no Mi (Ice-Ice Fruit), a Logia-type Devil Fruit that granted him the power to create, control, and transform into ice. After the timeskip, Kuzan left the Marines following his defeat by fellow admiral Akainu in a battle for the position of Fleet Admiral, a fight that left him severely injured.
