This Kagamine Rin figure is produced by Molynk as part of the Piapro Characters franchise. Standing approximately 81mm tall, the figure depicts one of Crypton Future Media's virtual singer characters who has become a cornerstone of the Vocaloid and fan-created music community. Kagamine Rin, codenamed CV02, was originally released in December 2007 for the VOCALOID2 engine as the second set of vocals in Crypton's Character Vocal Series. Paired with Kagamine Len, the two were described by their concept designer as two bodies sharing one soul. Their names derive from right and left, with their surname combining kagami (mirror) and ne (sound), referencing the concept of an echo. Their voices are provided by voice actress Asami Shimoda, who achieved Rin's voice by singing at the top of her head and Len's by singing within her chest. The Piapro Characters have inspired countless creators to publish works in an ongoing chain of peer production. Rin and Len have received multiple software updates across VOCALOID2, VOCALOID4, and most recently the Piapro Studio NT2 platform, with their latest release being the Kagamine Rin SP and Kagamine Len SP in the Piapro Characters Super Pack.
