Born into the Higashihongan shrine family with immense spiritual energy, she was kidnapped by an evil magician as a child, causing her spiritual power to leak and her physical body to weaken. Her leaked energy formed an artificial ghost with its own consciousness. After eventually merging back with her real body, Sanae's ghost and human personalities coexisted, creating an apparent split between the carefree Sanae-chan and the more composed Sanae-san. She later joined the Satomi Knights as a houseworker helper, known for being clingy with those she loves and possessing a happy-go-lucky, innocent personality.
