Asakura Yoh is the main protagonist of Shaman King, a series centered on the Shaman Fight, a tournament held every 500 years to determine who will become the Shaman King. Yoh is the heir of the Asakura Family and the maternal twin brother of the series' antagonist, Asakura Hao. Unlike many competitors driven by ambition or power, Yoh simply wants to live a peaceful life, yet he enters the tournament with the belief that becoming Shaman King will grant him that freedom. During the Shaman Fight in Tokyo 2000, he leads Team Funbari Onsen. His guardian ghost, Amidamaru, is a legendary samurai spirit who becomes his loyal companion throughout the series.
