Koizumi Itsuki is a member of the SOS Brigade, the eccentric club founded by Haruhi Suzumiya. Behind his perpetually pleasant smile and agreeable demeanor lies a far more complex reality — Koizumi is actually an esper working for a secretive organization that monitors and manages the closed space phenomena generated by Haruhi's unconscious abilities. His role within the group often involves explaining supernatural events to protagonist Kyon while maintaining a calm, enigmatic composure that makes his true feelings difficult to read.
