About this figure

This sofubi figure of Skunk Kusai is part of the Billiken Shokai Sofubi Osamu Tezuka Character World collection, based on the character from Tetsuwan Atom (Astro Boy). The figure stands approximately 100mm tall and is produced by Billiken Shokai. Skunk Kusai is a recurring villain across nearly every Astro Boy series and throughout Osamu Tezuka's broader body of work. Originally modeled after actor Richard Widmark's character Tommy Udo from the 1947 film Kiss of Death, Skunk's design features a long forehead, sunken eyes, and notably lacks eyebrows. He is a cruel, greedy, and unscrupulous gangster whose ambition ranges from petty theft to political sabotage. While not scientifically gifted himself, Skunk has a talent for manipulating others for his own gain. He is best known for his trademark cackle, often compared to a hyena's laugh, and appears as a regular adversary to Astro Boy across multiple series iterations. The figure is rendered in sofubi (soft vinyl) format, a material beloved by collectors for its tactile quality and retro aesthetic, fitting for a character rooted in the early history of anime.
