This doujin figure features Zundamon from the Tohoku Zunko/Zundamon Project, produced by Sekkou Funmatsu Koubou. Zundamon originated as the pet companion of Tohoku Zunko, a character created to promote recovery in the Tohoku region following the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. Tohoku Zunko was developed as a Voiceroid and later Vocaloid character by AH-Software, with her design based on zunda-mochi, a traditional Tohoku sweet made from green soybean paste. She has two sisters, Itako and Kiritan, and her pet Zundamon became a breakout character in its own right. The franchise expanded to include the anime Zunda Horizon, produced by SSS LLC, Studio Live, WAO World, and Take-Y, directed by Hiroshi Takeuchi with scripts by Michiko Yokote. Satomi Satō, who voices Tohoku Zunko, also published an original novel about the character serialized on Twitter.
