Uchoten presents Kataru-kun from Tono Monogatari, standing approximately 130mm tall. This figure represents a character from the manga adaptation of one of Japan's most celebrated collections of yokai folklore. Tono Monogatari, or Tales of Tono, was originally compiled by Kunio Yanagita and Kizen Sasaki from oral traditions in the Iwate Prefecture region. The stories were later adapted into manga form by legendary horror manga artist Shigeru Mizuki, who inserted himself into the narrative as a storyteller passing down over 100 tales of yokai, household spirits, and supernatural encounters. Mizuki's adaptation is noted for its simple, cartoon-like character designs set against lushly detailed landscapes of the Tono countryside, creating a distinctive atmosphere that blends folklore with personal storytelling. Kataru-kun, whose name relates to the act of narrating, embodies the storytelling tradition central to Tono Monogatari's structure. Produced by Uchoten, this figure stands at approximately 13cm in height and captures the charm of Mizuki's distinctive artistic style.
