CM's Corporation produced this figure of Toppy from the classic anime series Uchuusen Sagittarius (Spaceship Sagittarius). The series aired 77 episodes between January 1986 and October 1987, created by Nippon Animation and TV Asahi based on comics by Italian physicist Andrea Romoli. Uchuusen Sagittarius follows the adventures of four astronauts who travel through space aboard their spaceship, the Sagittarius, visiting numerous planets and encountering diverse adventures. The series was a major success in Japan, winning the Osamu Tezuka Atom Award at the Tokyo Film Festival. Though filled with humor, it tackled mature themes including friendship, the dangers of nuclear warfare, environmental protection, slavery, and even alcoholism — notably in an episode where Toppy himself struggled with alcoholism and abandoned his family. Set in a near-future world with interstellar travel and laser weapons, the characters explored moral lessons on each planet they visited.
