UFO Robo Grendizer, created by Go Nagai, follows the story of Duke Fleed, the prince of planet Fleed who escapes to Earth after his homeworld is conquered by the Vegan Empire. On Earth, he pilots the giant robot Grendizer to defend his new home against the Vegan forces. The series is the third installment in Nagai's Mazinger trilogy and achieved particular international popularity in countries across Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America during its broadcast.
