About this figure
This unique daruma figure features Unico, the beloved unicorn character created by legendary manga artist Osamu Tezuka. Produced by Chara'ft in collaboration with Shirakawa Daruma Shouhonpo, this handcrafted item is part of the "chadaruma" line — a portmanteau of "character" and "daruma" — which reimagines classic Tezuka characters in the form of traditional Japanese wishing dolls. Unico is a small unicorn with the magical ability to bring happiness to anyone who befriends him. Created by Osamu Tezuka, the character starred in several manga and animated films throughout the 1980s. Unico's stories often involve him being taken away from those he grows close to, as his powers attract the attention of gods and villains alike. Chara'ft previously released Black Jack versions of these daruma, making this Unico edition a notable first appearance for the character in the chadaruma line. The figure stands approximately 40mm tall and is crafted from clay and paper mache, staying true to traditional daruma construction methods. These palm-sized dolls were made to order, with a limited sales window, and are designed as good luck charms that combine Tezuka's iconic character design with centuries-old Japanese craft traditions.
