About this figure
Art Storm produced this figure of Hebi Shoujo (Snake Girl) from Uroko no Kao, standing approximately 250mm tall. The figure is made from a combination of fabric, PVC, and soft vinyl materials. Hebi Shoujo originates from the horror manga Reptilia, created by legendary manga artist Kazuo Umezu. Originally serialized in Shukan Shoujo Friend magazine from 1965 to 1966, Reptilia follows a monstrous woman who can transform into a snake-like being. Umezu drew inspiration from Japanese folklore and yokai stories, crafting the trilogy as a critical response to the loving mother-daughter relationships common in 1960s shoujo manga. The series was Umezu's first major critical and commercial success and is credited with sparking a boom in horror manga production in the late 1960s. The trilogy was adapted into live-action films, including The Snake Girl and the Silver-Haired Witch in 1968. This figure by Art Storm captures the eerie, unsettling design of the snake woman character in a mixed-material construction that includes soft vinyl and fabric elements.
