Makishima Yuusuke is Sohoku High School's ace climber, nicknamed "Peak Spider" for his distinctive irregular dancing climbing style on steep mountain roads. Known for ending his sentences with the verbal tic "sho," Makishima developed his own unique climbing technique from a young age when he lacked natural talent. He took Sakamichi Onoda under his wing, excited to mentor a fellow climber after being the sole specialist on the team. Makishima shares an eternal rivalry with Jinpachi Toudou of Hakone Academy, who affectionately calls him "Maki-chan" — a relationship that began when they first met during a race in their younger years.
