HobbyLink Japan is the other old Japan cart, the one with a private warehouse.
r/AnimeFigures still praises the hold. You pile figures, then ship once. Packing comes up as careful. The same collectors say AmiAmi is cheaper in yen and HLJ is easier to batch. A February 2026 r/ActionFigures thread is the sour side. Warehouse ship dates slip. Pre-orders stay open after the first batch is gone.
MyFigureCollection lists HLJ since 1997. Eighty-three shop reviews sit around 3.9. A collector blog on currency conversion is the other recurring gripe. USD stickers hide a bad yen rate. Pay in JPY.
Trustpilot is uglier. About 1.8 from roughly 130 signed reviews. Those are shipping invoices and warehouse waits. The figure forums still treat HLJ as a real shop.

HobbyLink Japan, HLJ, is the older English Japan shop a lot of collectors used before AmiAmi's English site felt finished. You still pre-order in yen, and they still hold items in a private warehouse until you request a shipment. That warehouse hold is the feature. You can stack several releases, then ship once, which can beat per-order EMS on AmiAmi if you are patient. The other side of that feature is idle fees if you let figures sit. Pre-orders follow Japanese street dates. Cancellations happen when a manufacturer cancels, not as a shop habit. Packing is competent. They sell official product. Shipping destinations are wide. The site looks dated. The cart is not. Use HLJ when you want to combine shipments or when AmiAmi is sold out on a pre-order that HLJ still has open. Do not use it as a bargain bin. Yen prices here are shop prices, not Mandarake lottery prices. A useful review says whether you used the warehouse, what you paid to ship the pile, and whether anything sat long enough to draw a fee.
