The game is set on the continent of Elibe as a prequel to The Binding Blade, and Lyn serves as the protagonist of the game's opening segment, which was designed as an extended tutorial to introduce new players to Fire Emblem gameplay. Lyn's story follows her quest to save her grandfather from his treacherous uncle, establishing her as a noblewoman of the Lorca tribe. She later joins Eliwood and Hector in the main campaign to oppose the sorcerer Nergal, who seeks to summon dragons back to Elibe. Lyn remains one of the most beloved characters in the franchise.
