Haibara Ai, originally known as Shiho Miyano, is a former member of the Black Organization who helped develop the experimental drug APTX 4869 — the same poison that shrank protagonist Conan Edogawa. After betraying the organization, she took the drug herself to escape, becoming a child and eventually finding refuge with Conan and his young friends.
