Meiko is one of the original Piapro Characters developed by Crypton Future Media, alongside Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin, Kagamine Len, Megurine Luka, and KAITO. These characters represent virtual singer software and have inspired a vast chain of creative works through peer production, where individual creators publish works that inspire others in turn. Meiko holds the distinction of being the first Japanese virtual singing voice library developed and distributed by Crypton, making her a foundational figure in the Vocaloid and virtual singer community.
