TOKYO TOYS presents Sapphire from Ribbon no Kishi (Princess Knight) as part of their Tezuka Osamu Figure Series, designated TZKA-005. This figure stands approximately 205mm tall and is crafted from a combination of ABS, PVC, and die-cast metal components, reflecting the Gokin-Jutsu line's emphasis on premium materials. Princess Knight, created by the legendary Osamu Tezuka, is a foundational manga series originally serialized from 1953 to 1956 in Kodansha's Shōjo Club magazine. The story follows Sapphire, a princess born with both the blue heart of a boy and the pink heart of a girl. She disguises herself as a prince to protect her kingdom from the scheming Duke Duralumin, who seeks to install his son Plastic on the throne. The character was inspired by the all-female Takarazuka Revue theater troupe, where women perform both male and female roles. The series is widely recognized as a pioneering work in the shōjo manga genre and was adapted into a 52-episode anime by Mushi Production in 1967. This figure's use of die-cast metal gives it a premium weight and feel, honoring the legacy of Tezuka's groundbreaking creation. At approximately 20.5cm tall, it is a fitting tribute to one of manga's earliest heroines.
