Good Smile Company's Nendoroid #009 features Suzumiya Haruhi from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. As one of the earliest entries in the Nendoroid line, this figure holds a special place in the history of the popular chibi figure series. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya follows Kyon, an ordinary high school student who meets the eccentric Haruhi Suzumiya, a girl who is unaware that she possesses reality-altering powers. Haruhi founds the SOS Brigade, a club dedicated to investigating supernatural phenomena, and unknowingly recruits an alien, a time traveler, and an esper as members. Her unpredictable personality, boundless energy, and demands for the extraordinary drive the series' events, while her god-like abilities threaten to reshape the world whenever she becomes bored or frustrated. The figure stands approximately 100mm tall and is made of ABS and PVC. Sculpted by Ageta Yukiwo with cooperation from Nendoron, it was released in December 2007. As one of the earliest Nendoroids, it originally retailed for ¥4,933.
