She began playing GGO on the suggestion of her friend Shinkawa Kyouji as a way to overcome her deep trauma surrounding guns, stemming from a childhood incident where she was forced to shoot a robber. In GGO, she adopted a cool and composed persona, becoming one of the game's top players.
